Poniżej tekst po angielsku z oficjalnej strony:

A "Citizens Initiative" to give the same rights to all.

On the 16th February 2011 the European Commission passed Regulation nº211/2011 in the European Parliament and Council, regarding the Citizens Initiative (DOUEL 11 March 2011), and that the presentation of a petition with a million signatures gained from E.U. citizens can go directly to the European Commission to modify a community legislation. Due to this, Expogays.com has proposed a campaign to obtain equal marriage rights for all couples throughout Europe. Gay Marriage is only legal in Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and the Netherlands, a mere five from the twenty seven countries of the European Union, and the Civil Union is legal in the aforementioned as well as Denmark, Finland, United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic, Slovenia, France and Luxembourg, with Austria and Hungary with a non registered cohabitation, so a total of fourteen countries plus the two at the end, out of twenty seven.

What is this based on?

Amongst its basic objectives the European Union wants to ensure that all member states provide a universal protection of human rights. This was established in the preamble of the European Unions Bill of Fundamental Rights "Conscious of its spiritual and moral heritage, the Union is founded on the indivisible, universal values of human dignity, freedom, equality and solidarity; it is based on the principles of democracy and the rule of law".

This charter offers others equality for all the European citizens within the law (article 20) and expressly prohibits the discrimination due to sex, race, colour, ethnic or social origin, genetic characteristics, language, religion or convictions, political opinions or any other category pertaining to a national minority, patrimony, birth, discapacity, age or sexual orientation.

From this, its is incomprehensible that under Article 9 of the same treaty, that discrimination is allowed regarding marriage, the article states that "The right to marry and the right to found a family shall be guaranteed in accordance with the national

laws governing the exercise of these rights". In reality, this limitation allows the discrimination against European Citizens regarding their basic rights. In article 52 it states "Subject to the principle of proportionality, limitations may be made only if they are necessary and genuinely meet objectives of general interest recognised by the Union or the need to protect the rights and freedoms of others", which really cannot be applied in this case. We are asking for your help to change this situation.

This initiative has been instigated by ExpoGays.com (SBR Productions S.L.U.) and will be presented, in accordance with the European regulation, to the Committee of European Citizens. The committee, once the petition is registered and accepted by the European Citizens Initiative, will request confirmation of your signature. All you have to do is fill in the following form.
